SEO for private practices

SEO for therapists who would rather not sell themselves

When someone in your town searches for the kind of help you offer, your practice should be one of the names they find. We do the search work that gets you there, at a fixed monthly price, with every link we place listed in your report and nothing that asks you to bend your ethics code.

Figures describe our team's work across all industries since 2009. We have no therapy case study yet, and we say so wherever proof appears on this site.

How clients look for a therapist now

Many people start with a search. They type what is on their mind and where they are: "anxiety therapist near me", "couples counseling in Raleigh", "therapist for teen depression", "EMDR therapist that takes Aetna". What comes back is a mix of three things.

  • The map results. Three practices with a Google Business Profile, chosen by relevance, distance and prominence.
  • Directory pages. Psychology Today, insurance company finders and telehealth platforms hold many of the top organic spots for broad searches.
  • Practice websites. The sites that answer the specific question best: a page about exactly that specialty, in that town, with fees, availability and a clear way to reach out.

Directories are hard to beat on "therapist near me". They are much weaker on the specific searches that bring the clients you actually want to see. That is where a practice website can win, and it is where we spend most of our effort.

What we do each month

The work is the same in shape for every practice and different in detail. A solo LPC in a small town and a twelve-clinician group in a metro need different keywords, different pages and a different volume of links.

Keyword research by specialty, license and place

We map the phrases people use for what you treat, the methods you are trained in, the populations you see and the places you can legally serve. The result is a short list of searches worth winning and a note on who holds each one today.

Pages that answer one search well

Each target search gets one page: who it is for, how you work, fees or insurance, availability and the next step. We fix titles, headings, internal links, speed problems and anything that makes a page hard for Google to read. On Golden and above this includes a full on-page audit and a content gap analysis.

Your Google Business Profile

If you see clients in person, your profile decides whether you appear in the map results. We set the right categories (Psychotherapist, Counselor, Psychologist and so on), services, hours and photos, and keep your name and address consistent across directories. If your office is in your home, we will talk through the privacy options first.

Links from other websites

Google still treats links from relevant sites as votes of confidence. Each plan places a set number of guest posts on sites with a domain authority of 20 or more and Web 2.0 properties on platforms of 50 or more, written to match your practice. You see every one.

A report you can check

Every month: each link's live URL, the page it points to and its anchor text, plus keyword positions for your target searches. If a link ever stops working, we replace it.

Inside the lines your code draws

Your licensing board and your professional association have rules about advertising, and your clients have a right to privacy that outlasts any marketing plan. We build around both.

  • No solicited testimonials. We never ask your clients for reviews or quotes, and no plan depends on them.
  • No client stories. Not real, not composite, not "inspired by". Pages describe what you offer, not what happened to someone.
  • No outcome promises. We write about how you work, your training and the practical details, never about results a reader should expect.
  • Accurate credentials. Your license title, degree and training appear exactly as they are, for every clinician.
  • Privacy-minded contact forms. Forms ask about scheduling, not symptoms, and say plainly not to include health details.
  • No ad pixels by default. We don't add tracking scripts that could pass visitor data to ad platforms.

You approve every page before it goes live. If a sentence doesn't sit right with you, it changes.

Fee schedule

Four plans, the same for every practice. Pick monthly to keep the work going, or pay once to try a single round. The difference between plans is volume: how many searches we target, how many links we place and how deep the research goes.

Results, labeled for what they are

We don't have a therapy practice we can show you yet, and we won't dress up a result from another field as one. These are real campaigns run by our team, with the business type stated plainly. Each one shows a part of the work a practice needs: winning local searches in a regulated profession, beating large competitors with better content, and building location pages that rank.

What clients say about working with us

What people value most is not a ranking. It is clear reports, honest expectations and someone who answers.

What I value most is the transparency. No vague promises and no 'secret sauce', just a clear strategy. Detailed reports every month, every question answered, and the plan adjusted when needed. Our search traffic has grown steadily since we signed up. It's refreshing to work with an SEO team that does exactly what it says.

Damian Troy

I've worked with different SEO providers for a decade and never expected to find one that lived up to its promises. A friend recommended this team. The reports were detailed and I could actually understand them. Every question got an answer within a day. The results didn't come overnight, but when they came they were what was predicted: steady keyword growth, higher rankings and, most important, more calls from customers.

Adam Moller

A friend recommended them and I'm glad I tried them. The process was simple, the reporting was clear, and I started seeing real traffic after about 6 weeks. Much better than my past SEO agency experience.

Arosh Parker, Internet Marketer

Great to work with, especially Joe. He understood all our goals. Even after we decided to bring our SEO in-house because of budget constraints, he still checks in and sends us updates and tips to improve our online presence.

Barry Phillips

Clients of our team in other industries, quoted with light edits for length. None of them is a therapist or a practice, and we would never ask your clients for testimonials.

How it starts

  1. Free visibility review. Tell us about your practice and the searches you care about. Within one business day you get a written review of where you stand.
  2. Choose a plan. Monthly or once. We email a secure payment link; there is no checkout on this site.
  3. A short questionnaire. Specialties, licenses, locations, fees, availability. Nothing about clients.
  4. Work begins. Keyword research and fixes first, then links. The first round is delivered within the plan's turnaround, 10 to 18 days.
  5. Monthly report. Every link, every target page, keyword positions and what we plan next.

Solo practices and group practices

A solo practice usually needs a handful of strong specialty pages and a clean Google profile. A group practice needs a structure: one page per clinician, specialty pages that list the right clinicians, a page and a profile per office, and an intake path that routes inquiries well. We plan for whichever you are. We also write for psychologists andlicensed counselors, whose codes and searches differ in useful ways.

Questions practice owners ask

Is SEO worth it for a therapist in private practice?

It can be, if people in your area search for what you offer and your site can be the answer. If a new client stays for a few months at your usual fee, that one client may cover several months of a plan; the client value calculator does this math with your own numbers. Our free review also checks how often people search for your specialties in your town, so you decide with real figures.

How long does SEO take for a therapy practice?

Fixes to your site and Google profile take effect within weeks. Specialty searches with little competition often move in two to four months. Broad searches in a large city, such as "therapist in Chicago", can take six to twelve months or longer. Anyone who promises page one by a date is guessing.

What keywords should a therapist target?

The phrases clients type: a specialty or concern plus a place ("anxiety therapist in Dayton"), a type of therapy ("couples counseling near me"), a population ("therapist for teens"), and practical filters like telehealth or a specific insurance plan. We build a grid of these for your town and license, then match one page to each.

Do I still need Psychology Today if I invest in SEO?

Probably, at least at first. Directories rank well for broad searches and many clients start there. SEO adds a second source you own: your site, showing up for the specialty searches directories cover poorly. Once your site brings steady inquiries, you can decide whether a paid listing still earns its fee.

Will you ask my clients for reviews or testimonials?

No. Most professional codes bar soliciting testimonials from current clients or anyone vulnerable to undue influence (APA 5.05, ACA C.3.b, NASW 4.07). We never contact your clients, never write reviews, and never build a plan that depends on them. Unsolicited reviews that already exist are yours to handle under your own code.

Do you need access to my EHR or any client information?

No. We work on your public website, your Google Business Profile and links from other sites. We never need your practice management system, client lists or anything covered by HIPAA. If a form on your site collects health details today, we will suggest changing that too.

Do you guarantee rankings?

No. Nobody controls Google. We guarantee what we deliver each month: the keywords researched, the pages fixed, every link placed with its live URL in your report, and straight answers within one business day.

Is there a contract?

No. Plans are month to month and you can cancel anytime. You can also buy any plan once instead of monthly if you want to try a single round of work first.

Is SEO still worth doing now that AI answers appear in search?

Yes, with a different emphasis. AI summaries tend to cite pages that answer a question clearly, and the map results and directories still appear for "near me" searches. Clear specialty pages, a complete Google profile and a site that other sites link to help in both places.

I only offer telehealth. Can you still help?

Yes, though the plan differs. Google Business Profiles are for businesses that meet clients in person, so a virtual-only practice relies on its website ranking across the state where you are licensed, plus directories with telehealth filters. We plan pages around the places you can legally see clients.

See where your practice stands, before you spend anything

Send us your website and the searches you care about. Within one business day you get a written review: where you appear today, who holds the spots you want, and what we would do first. No call required.

Please don't include anything about clients or anyone's health. We only need to know about the practice.
